Road trip!

On Tuesday evening, I travelled 300 miles…for a holiday in Wales. Not by myself of course. Mum took me in her car, while Dad had my crate and suitcase (full of tasty treats) in his. For the first couple of hours, I chased the traffic, moving my head right round to watch every big lorry go by. Great game! After that, I spent ages unravelling the edge of the car mat toy that Mum had thoughtfully left for me. She’s the best 🙂

Next, we had a pitstop so we could have a wee and get some food…I managed to beg a corner off a ham panini. Mmmmmm, lip smackingly good. When we got back in the car, I discovered that Mum had put a new toy in for me. Between the two front seats, she’d hidden a paper coffee cup. And it was half full!! While she was busy getting back on the motorway, I managed to grab it. After emptying out the contents onto her ‘car cardigan’ that was on the back seat, I chewed the cup to shreds. Certainly passed the time.

It was starting to get pretty dark, so I figured that I ought to get some sleep but it’s hard when stuff is so exciting. I discovered that, despite being strapped in with a doggy seat belt, I could still reach forward enough to rest my head on Mum’s shoulder. That’s where it stayed for the rest of the journey.

Once we had arrived at Granny Menna’s (Dad’s Mum), well, all I remember is waking up on Wednesday morning – and by then it was time to get going again! Off to the park for a morning walk we went, then a little drive to Llangollen. So many people there wanted to stroke me and look at my beautiful eyes. One lady even took a photo of me with my smart bandana on. Who can blame her?

If only I could slip out of this harness somehow...

Molls on hols

Those of you who know me well, or are regular readers of my blog, will realise that I’m quite a happy chappy. In fact, every day is an amazing adventure. But this weekend has literally been the BEST THING EVER! Granny and Grandad have been away visiting Uncle Matthew and Auntie Katie, so my best friend Molly (note from Hector’s Mum: not sure the relationship is entirely reciprocal, especially when the face barking is at its most intense, but hey) has been to stay with me for two nights. It’s been awesome!!!!!!!!!!!

On Friday, Mum took us both to the beach and we pulled her into the water with her favourite new shoes on. Brilliant. Then we both scoffed loads of sea water and promptly had upset tummies all over the promenade. That gave Mum a chance to show off her fancy new polka dot poop bags, so I’m pretty sure she loved our presents 😀

I'll let Molly go first, that's what gentlemen do. What? Who said 'wimp'? I resent that accusation. Chivalry is not dead.

Let’s get a little seaweed facial while we’re here…

Next stop was the pet shop, where I chose a fluffy football…well, I pinched it off the shelf, carried it round the store and covered it in slobber so Mum had to buy it for me. I also negotiated a huge new dog duvet for myself. Who can resist my puppy dog eyes?

But when we got home, it didn’t turn out quite as I’d expected:

Still feels a little lumpy. One more super loud scratching session should get it perfect.

So, Molly has been sleeping on my new bed for the last two nights. But it’s OK. I let her because I love her. And she lets me waggle my bum at her and bark really loudly in her ears when I want to play…just like I did at 8 o’clock this morning. It’s a match made in heaven.

Not sure why Molly was wagging so much when we took her back to Granny and Grandad’s today though. But then, she is only a cocker spaniel. She doesn’t quite have the brainpower of Bordoodle. Simple minds, simple pleasures.

Ah, what it is to be me!

Pond dipping

Dad is away this weekend – I miss pulling on his trouser legs him loads. But to make up for the lack of action-packedness (hey, I’m a dog – I can make stuff up) at home, we’ve been spending a lot of time at Granny and Grandad’s.

Molly has been pleased to see me of course. As have the newts in the pond. And as for the cat, well, I announced my presence loud and clear to him and he offered out a paw for me to shake. But for some reason it had really sharp claws on the end of it. Strange.

Anyway, the photo diary below gives you an idea of what I’ve been up to. Enjoy!

Puppy power!

Bank holiday weekend – excellent – that means lots of dogs in the park. And lots of picnics for me to examine 😉

Even better, Dad is away this weekend for work (that’s not the good bit), so Mum has been taking me to the park by herself. She’s absolutely rubbish at walking fast, so I’ve been making sure she keeps pace by pulling really hard on the lead. It’s SO much fun. I think she’s been loving it too…especially the bit when I almost pulled her in the river – you should have heard the squeal of excitement that came out of her mouth. Honestly, it was embarrassingly loud.

Hector in the park, showing off!

Hector in the park? Nah, too well behaved.

Other than chilling at the park, we’ve spent quite a bit of time at Granny and Grandad’s this weekend. Molly has hurt her foot, so I’ve been trying to amuse myself over there (sort of). Today, I took myself upstairs and jumped on Granny’s comfy bed. Then I went into the conservatory, where I protected Grandad from a vicious dog that was standing just outside (note from Hector’s Mum: it was actually H’s own reflection in the glass). After such a dangerous and stressful incident, I went and helped myself to a pig’s ear from the back of the kitchen counter for a little light relief.

I am a good boy. It’s no wonder everybody loves me.

Did you miss me?

Hey folks, I’m back. Sorry it’s been a while, but being such a famous hound, I have so little time to myself now. Yeah, I wish. One day. Yes, one day, someone will talent spot me…just you wait.

In preparation for that day, I’ve had a smashing haircut and have been doing LOTS of exercise. Mum even took me back to the doggy pool. It was awesome:

Bordoodle swimmimg

Yeah, I could go off by myself, but Mum has only been swimming for 30 odd years, so she might need my help. I’ll stay close to her.

Bordoodle swimming with owner

This brings a whole new meaning to joined at the hip…

And afterwards…

Tired Bordoodle

Yes, this really IS me lying down quietly. Captured on camera for all you unbelievers to see!

In other news, I recently spent a week on a lads’ holiday (at home with Dad) cos Mum had to go to Singapore for work. We ate rubbish and stayed up late. Dad also let me on the sofa…brilliant!

I did manage to pick up a bit of a cough from all the midnight partying, but now I’m back on top form. In fact, I’ve been feeling so good lately that I’ve been helping out loads more round the house…gathering up laundry, making sure there are no tea towels left lying on the counter, cleaning bowls and plates, draining coffee cups. You name it, I’m your man.

Dogzilla strikes again

Ah, it’s been another busy day for me. Wreaking havoc is hard work!

Today, I have: bitten Dad’s big toe (by mistake – I thought it was a shoe) so hard that it bled; stolen Grandad’s reading glasses and two of his best crossword pens; drunk out of Granny’s tea and Mummy’s cup of coffee – when they had just been made, peed on my ice pop toy in the garden; dug a hole in the flowerbed (while growling and barking at it) and tried my very best to jump over the baby gate so that I could go upstairs to find Daddy…even though I don’t actually know how to climb the stairs yet.

I also had a great time chasing my friend Molly round Granny’s and Grandad’s big field…finishing off with a lie down, yes a lie down, in the stinky pond. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings…
